Built the engine before I knew what it was for.
Years of football and futsal. I loved it, still do. But I never trained the football part properly. The drills kept not happening and the running always did, so my stamina went up while my first touch stayed where it was. At some point the honest conclusion was that football wasn't my thing. The engine I'd built for it was.
So I went looking for a race worth training for, and found two. A marathon, because I was running most days anyway. Hyrox, because a studio nearby started offering classes and one session was enough to hook me. In October 2025 I did both, twelve days apart: Marathon München first, then Hyrox Stuttgart in the doubles.
The marathon was hell. Cramps at the halfway mark, the pace falling away from there, five hours on the clock and a lesson about mileage I won't need teaching twice. And the finish line felt so good I wanted more of it. Stuttgart was the same deal, cramps and all, but the atmosphere was something else, and somewhere in the middle of it I thought: this is something I could be really good at one day.
Hybrid, to me, means the whole body. Run far, lift heavy, be strong, because that's what being healthy looks like too. A marathon is pacing and survival. Hyrox is explosive, especially with a partner. Different strategies, different parts of me, and I want to be the best I can at both. Endurance work used to be twice a week at most. Now it's six, lifting included. The pros are a long way off. The gap is closing.
